Back in 1979, beginning on the volcanic shores in Maui, Hawaii, Dakine found its way to Hood River, Oregon, at the foot of another volcano in 1986. Dakine headquarters are since then located under Oregon towering Mount Hood where snowboarders and skiers from all over the world train in summer. Back in 1986 Hood River was already the US windsurfing and kiteboarding mainland mecca, and by 2005 it grew into a legitimate mountain bike destination. It was the perfect location.
Dakine is a name inseparably intertwined with extreme sports. Spanning the holy trinity that is snow, water and dirt for 35 years, the company continues to nurture some of the World's most idolized athletes and create their must-have equipment for snow-capped peaks to sun-burnt beaches.
Dakine is responsible for hundreds of products that first helped snowboarders, surfers, windsurfers, kiteboarders and mountain bikers grab more days on the mountain or in the water. Through each one, Dakine’s team approach has never changed : building gear they’d be proud to give friends who love being on the mountain and in the water as much as they do.
